Join Melbourne Legacy as a volunteer Legatee and help our mission to support the families of veterans with compassion and care.
Legatees are the dedicated volunteers at the heart of Melbourne Legacy’s mission. For over 100 years, they have carried on the promise to care for the families of veterans who sacrificed their lives or health in service to our country. Legatees provide emotional support, practical assistance, and a sense of community to older widows, younger families, and children, working closely with Melbourne Legacy’s professional case management team.
As a Legatee, you’ll embody the Legacy spirit of service and compassion, connecting with families across Victoria and contributing to their wellbeing in meaningful ways. Whether you’re supporting families directly, participating in fundraising efforts, or helping Legacy operate smoothly, your role is vital to our mission.
Legatees play a dynamic and impactful role, tailored to the needs of Melbourne Legacy’s beneficiaries:
Provide companionship, share invitations to Legacy activities, and offer support in navigating aged care, pensions, and financial assistance.
Connect with individuals post-training, refer families for professional case management, and offer a listening ear and friendship.
Participate in fundraising events like Legacy Week, contribute to committees and the Board, and help ensure Legacy’s continued success.
Legatees also benefit from training, such as Mental Health First Aid courses, ensuring they are equipped to assist families with contemporary challenges.
Joining Melbourne Legacy as a Legatee offers more than the opportunity to give back—it’s a chance to become part of a vibrant community.
