Life Changing Support

We’re proud to share the life changing support we’ve provided last Financial Year. A huge thank you to Melbourne Legacy case workers, our veteran family community, and our donors for making this work possible.

Education

$194, 501 

provided so children of veterans don’t go without uniforms, stationery and education support, ensuring they don’t fall behind their peers.

Medical

$36,457 

provided to ensure families of veterans receive effective medical care to support physical, mental and emotional healing needed to recover from trauma.

Financial Aid

$160, 374 

provided to help ease the stress of covering critical necessities when times are tough for families of veterans, like helping with food vouchers and utility bills.

Youth

$143,041 

provided to empower youth through programs like camps and youth activities connecting them to other young people who’ve experiences the loss of a parent’s life or health in service.

Advocacy Impact 

Melbourne Legacy’s advocacy ensures the voices of the families of veterans are heard and their needs addressed at every level. From supporting families to navigate entitlements through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to championing systemic changes that improve access to essential services, our advocacy efforts focus on creating lasting impact. By working closely with policymakers, community organisations, and the broader public, Melbourne Legacy empowers families to achieve stability, security, and dignity, ensuring no one is left behind.

Melbourne Legacy supports eligible families of veterans through a range of professional services, programs and community-centric events.

From fostering connection between our war widows, to providing assistance to young families and dependents of veterans with a disability, Melbourne Legacy proudly supports those who have been impacted by the service of a loved one.

Our Community

Collaborations & Partnerships

We’re proud to have close collaborations and partnerships with organisations that are committed to the health and wellbeing of the families of our veterans. From our efforts delivering integral financial counselling to ensure our beneficiaries can work towards a sustainable future, to the expert teams who assist in our family and youth camp experiences, we’re proud of our connections with like-minded organisations.

Bravery Trust is a national military charity which provides current and ex-serving members of the Australian Defence Force with financial assistance, financial counselling and financial education. Partnering with Melbourne Legacy from 2024 to deliver our Financial Literacy program.

Geelong Adventure Specialists (GAS) has been offering programs and experiences with Melbourne Legacy since 2019. The GAS staff are qualified social workers and adventure therapists, offering therapeutic supports that incorporate nature-based experiences that are individually tailored to meet the uniqueness of each individual.

Infuse is a leading Australian student travel organisation that specialises in service-learning, cultural immersion and experiential education programs for students. Melbourne Legacy has been working with Infuse to offer camps tailored towards our secondary school-aged beneficiaries.

Soldier On, a not-for-profit organisation that delivers support services to current and former Australian Defence Force personnel following their transition out of service, are co-located with Melbourne Legacy at Legacy House. 

Swinburne University’s Centre for Social Impact provides support for Melbourne Legacy through the creation of comprehensive social impact reporting to help us understand our community, our impact and improve our services. 

The Australian National Veterans Art Museum (ANVAM) is a a veteran led charity that supports the mental, physical and social wellbeing of current and former service members and families through community-based facilitated Arts engagements. Melbourne Legacy is proud to work with ANVAM to deliver Family & Disability Recreation Days. 

The Shrine of Remembrance is was founded in 1934 as the National War Memorial of Victoria. Melbourne Legacy was deeply involved in its inception and continues to have a close relationship with The Shrine, hosting commemorative services on ANZAC and Remembrance Days annually. 

Open Arms is a free and confidential, 24/7 national counselling service for Australian veterans and their families. Melbourne Legacy has developed a strong referral pathway with Open Arms to provide confidential counselling, group programs and peer support to anyone who has served (one day service) in the Australian Army, Navy or Air Force, and to their partners and families. 

SCS Group is a leading Australian provider of commercial cleaning and integrated property services, supporting businesses nationwide with safe, high-quality facility solutions. Their commitment to reliability and service excellence makes them a valued partner. SCS Group support Melbourne Legacy to provide supermarket vouchers to families during financial hardship. 

BAE Systems Australia is a leading defence and security company that proudly supports the ex-service community and partners with Legacy to fund education grants for children of veterans, ensuring young people affected by service have access to learning and development opportunities.
