Dennis Family Corporation Morning Tea Event

November 03, 2025

Melbourne Legacy was recently invited to attend a morning tea at the offices of Dennis Family Corporation. The event was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with our long-time supporters, the Dennis family, and to address nearly 120 staff who were in attendance.

Dennis Family Corporation have a rare bond with Legacy, nurtured over many decades. The founder of this great Australian business, Bert Dennis, was a Junior Legatee whose father served in Europe in WW1. Bert credits Legacy’s support for his mother and siblings with helping the family overcome poverty following the death of his father in 1938, just before the outbreak of WW11. As Bert’s daughter Adele stated at the morning tea, “the guidance dad’s Legatee provided helped put him on the right track”.  That care eventually led to Bert having opportunities in tertiary education and business, where he thrived. He made the most of those opportunities to establish an award-winning business that has become one of the leaders in residential land development in Victoria and South East Queensland. The family’s wider property interests also extend to a significant active presence in retail/commercial development, as well as farming and pastoral holdings.

All staff members at Dennis Family Corporation are informed of Bert’s story when they start. The role that Legacy played in his life is shared through the generations of the family and the staff, who are seen as an extension of the family. Dennis Family Corporation has provided fundraising support to Melbourne Legacy over the years, as well as collaborating in marketing activities and events including the Centenary Torch Relay.

Staff at the morning tea had a chance to hear from Melbourne Legacy and learn more about how we deliver services to the next generation of families affected by service. Several staff later recounted their own family experiences with Legacy, recalling assistance provided to parents and grandparents over the years.

The event raised $1,137.09 through the sale of Legacy Bears, badges and donations. Another terrific contribution!

Thank you to Dennis Family Corporation CEO, Peter Levinge and Dennis Family Group Director, Adele Levinge for their warm hospitality and for the continued support that Legacy receives from Dennis Family Corporation for families impacted by service.
