A total of 55 attendees enjoyed a fun-filled experience, with something on offer for everyone. Our group was based in a function room overlooking the koala sanctuary, providing a relaxed space for legatees and parents to connect and chat. There was plenty of adventure to be had outside on the rides and getting up close with the wildlife, with animal handlers wondering around with all sorts of creatures from owls to reptiles. The day also provided moments of relaxation on the lazy river and through meaningful conversation over a catered lunch.
The day is was not just fun-focused, but provided a great way for our families to connect with one another. Bringing together families with shared lived experiences creates a sense of understanding and belonging that is truly invaluable. These days out foster lasting friendships, not only among children but also among parents.

Melbourne Legacy Programs Team Leader, Bronwyn, highlighted the importance of these family days in building a strong and supportive community. She noted their growing popularity and the overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees. One of the most rewarding aspects, she shared, is seeing younger children grow in confidence as they interact with older peers.
As one beneficiary, Kylie* reflected:
It's been a tough year and I can honestly say that today was the best we have had in a long time. We had a blast and it was so nice to see my children happy and to feel so much joy myself. It is an incredible team and community of people that creates such a special space for us all. I can't thank you enough. What you do is so special and meaningful to our families"
