The team at Melbourne Legacy bid a sad, but overwhelmingly proud farewell to our Chief Operating Officer, Annabelle Wilson, last month as she accepted her new role as the second ever Veteran Family Advocate Commissioner for the Department of Veteran Affairs.
Annabelle's story of hope and growth has been a remarkable one, being first introduced to Legacy as a young widow, following the death of her veteran husband, Josh. Annabelle described herself as having been "in the pit" when she found Legacy, and became a vocal advocate for the support she and her newborn daughter, Primrose, received when they needed it most.

Annabelle became the Community Services Manager of Melbourne Legacy in 2020 and was a champion for reform both within the organisation, and as a passionate advocate to government and decision-making bodies. Annabelle spearheaded Melbourne Legacy's industry-standard service delivery model, ensuring our case management is expert and state-of-the-art when supporting the families of veterans.
She became Chief Operating Officer of Melbourne Legacy at the beginning of 2024.
With the immense passion, drive and knowledge that she possesses, Annabelle is now well-positioned to continue the invaluable work of advocating for veteran families across Australia as DVA's next Veteran Family Advocate Commissioner.
The Melbourne Legacy team, while sad to see Annabelle go, thank her for her incredible efforts and tireless support for our mission and know that this work will continue in her new and exciting next chapter.
Thank you Annabelle!
