Torch Society Luncheon

April 29, 2026

Melbourne Legacy’s Torch Society is a deeply committed group of supporters who have shown remarkable care and foresight by choosing to create their own lasting legacy by leaving a Gift in their Will.

This thoughtful act of giving ensures that their support continues well into the future. The generosity of this group plays a vital role in enabling Melbourne Legacy to continue its mission of supporting families of veterans.

Last week, we hosted this dedicated group at a special luncheon held at Park Hyatt Melbourne. The event brought together members of the Torch Society, alongside other members of the Melbourne Legacy community, creating an opportunity to strengthen the connections that unite this community. Held in the lead-up to ANZAC Day, the luncheon carried a particularly meaningful tone, encouraging reflection on service, sacrifice, and the enduring importance of remembrance.

The luncheon provided the opportunity for guests to connect with one another, as well as hear from guest speakers throughout the day. Speakers included, Major General Jason Blain DSC AM CSC, whose insights and experiences provided a powerful perspective of current service and Legacy’s modern-day relevance.

Alongside Melbourne Legacy beneficiary Cheryl Mackenzie, who shared her story highlighting the enduring difference that Legacy support makes to families of veterans like her own. This provided a unique opportunity for guests to hear firsthand from someone whose life has been touched by the generosity of our supporters.

Together, these stories and shared moments created a powerful and memorable experience for all in attendance. The luncheon not only celebrated the generosity of the Torch Society but also reinforced the profound difference their contributions make that ensure care for the families of veterans for generations to come.
